Well we call it the *Fish

Well we call it the *Fish House* since it is next to the trout pond.......actually just a storage room but back when the pic was taken it was my weight room.

That is probably close to 15 years ago (Jag vs Deere) since the building is another color and from that angle you wouldn't even see it since the Magnolia tree is about 40ft X 40ft....I'll show a modern pic from that angle when I get a chance.

In fact it look a bit strange compared to now since there are big flowering trees around the pond now and there it looks like nothing and that Magnolia looks like a twig.

(reminds me I even put a metal roof on that building many years ago too and this winter or early Spring I have to trim it back because the branches are stretching across the roof and almost covered the entire thing.

(ah here is a pic I found from March this year from the same angle)

That is when it flowers so right now it is millions of green Magnolia leaves so you wouldn't see that building at all right now

Hey dude! Congrats on conductor. I hadn't read that you finished. Good stuff!

I'm about halfway thru my engineer training. I've finished Chicago and Van Loon, and will be done with Elkhart in a few days. Then on to Bellevue Ohio and Cincinnati to finish late this year. I can't wait!

I was actually in bed when the 765 came across our rail on it's way out. I live about a quarter mile from the rail yard where I work, and the diamond for all the mains is right behind me. So I heard it but didn't try to get dressed to go out. Never would have made it in time.

The museum for the 765 is only a few miles East of me, so we see it fairly often.

Next year you should come down to Fort Wayne and I'll take you out to the museum. Make it a day trip or something.

Laters.

Phil

I was there. I spent the whole week in Ohio, visiting various hot spots and museums. Spent Thursday night in Bellevue and a couple hours by the tower Friday morning waiting for the museum to open, and then a couple hours in the museum. Paused briefly in Fostoria on my way to Ft. Wayne. The Motel 6 in Ft. Wayne is a real dump. Rode to Lafayette Saturday. Too tired to drive home, so I spent another night there. The Red Roof isn't much better. Leisurely drove home Sunday, following the NKP as close as I could most of the way.

I've been to 765's home a couple of times. When they did the trip east a couple years ago, I drove to Fostoria and followed the deadhead home. Also went with a group to their open house once.

My first day as conductor without a supervisor was kind of hectic. Big group of "active adults" came and at least half a dozen of them needed the wheelchair lift to get on and off the trains. That's more than we usually get all year. I'm doing it again on Sunday the 13th.

Apologies for the double post, but it's too late to edit. Drinks on me at the Cafe and all that.

Here's a picture of me on tailhose, but I should warn you it's an 11MB file (which is why I didn't post it inline). Actually, I had no reason to have my hands on the valve at that moment, except that I had asked someone to take pictures of me.

5 acres with a fish pond and a creek running north to south across the property.

Bought the place in 1984 and since then planted things from palm trees to giant sequoias and the first sequoia I planted was 1988 so it is now over 50 feet tall and I have around 40 of them all over the property but so far all the palm trees and 3 different types of magnolias are around the pond.

about 3 acres is my lawn and all my *pets* are wild animals that I have been feeding all these years from deer to hummingbirds (I am near the NE corner of the Olympic Peninsula)

This is about 50 feet away from the house I built here in 2002

And this is about 1/3rd of the lawn in front of the house and I planted every one of those trees and flowers.

Magic, if that's what you

Magic, if that's what you enjoy, more power to ya. I would rather have landscaping I never have to touch or do anything to, but this town is too conventional for that.

Well I don't mind the mowing too much but I would rather see all the work here just be *Magically* done so I can just look at it.

Each summer I try to make things easier here for the future so mowing will be my only job and driving a nice John Deere around helps but in the next couple years I will have to replace the one I have since it will be 20 years old the summer of 2019

I do mix concrete here for fun but also use that to make future mowing here easier too.

And I would never sell this place to move to a place with a small yard and neighbors a couple feet away.

My favorite neighbors are the ones I see on a monitor

All that stuff does get you out of the house I guess!! Have you ever mowed in your pj's? My father-in-laws neighbor used to do that in HER nightgown!! She was 75 years old on a riding mower in a SEE THRU nightgown!!! He was just glad she did it in the EARLY AM so he could sleep thru it!! He said she would have the thing in high gear and be zipping around her yard with that nightgown, and everything else, blowing in the breeze!!

I am an afternoon type of guy

I am an afternoon type of guy so by then I have my work clothes on

If you can find me a landscaper who works for free and never makes any mistakes and then leaves until I call back then I will give that a try
