Oh lord you have this as well over there do you? Yes we also have Wellman and Wellwoman clinics over here. All they are is very expensive people that tell you what you knew anyway and charge you for it. Of course things get harder as you get older, it's called old age! Nothing new there then.
Yes of course routine screening can detect some cancers early, we all know that, and that is good, but it's these "lifestyle consultations" that waste your time and get me angry. Yes, we all drink and smoke too much, we are all overweight and don't take enough exercise etc etc etc. We all know that, if I wrote that out and presented my bill to them, would they pay it?
Do what I do. Use your doctors for your benefit, don't let them use you for theirs.
The Cleveland Clinic, a big health group, will NOT take people on as patients if they refuse to stop smoking! This is new for them, and alot of other insurers are closing monitoring them, but they may only be the tip of the iceberg due to the overwhelming evidence that smoking can not only kill you, but it cost ALOT to treat the symptoms of it too. The Clinic DOES offer all kinds of smoking cessation programs, from counseling to drugs, to hypnotherapy, etc, etc, ETC.
And so I find myself once again without sufficient time to duly examine the clues.
So I will just say that one of the smartest things I ever did was not start smoking.
Both my parents smoked and kept trying to quit but couldn't, so when I was in high school my mom offered me $200, alot of money at the time, to never start smoking, being a kid I of course said yes and when I graduated high school she paid me! About 5 or so years later my dad was at work one day and just put out his cigarette and never smoked one again. My mom being a type 1 diabetic, caused/diagnosed when she was pregnant with me, struggled due to the common problem of trying to quit and supplementing food for cigarettes took another 10 years to finally do it, but she finally did!! To this day I still don't smoke except for the very rare cigar I have with friends when playing poker, the last one being more than 3 years ago now!! The main guy who smoked died and the rest of us haven't gotten together much since.
When I was a HS kid the cool guys ran out and smoked a cig (and later that stuff they now say is medical) between classes so I did that when I was 17-18 but also was a *gym rat* and wanted to play basketball every day.
So I figured not smoking was a better idea if I was going to be in the gym every day and I was pretty good (6ft 4") so I had no problem never doing that again and played until I was 42.
Only problem was then I started having all kinds of health problems and was forced to quit playing and now at almost 58 I found out playing all that basketball is not a good thing once you are this age since it hurts from head to toe just to get out of bed and all day long my knees and back and ankles and feet feel like I am 90 years old.
I was also a weightlifting junkie but it was the basketball that wore my body out.
If not for all the great memories it would have been like a big mistake.
Now I never got to play for the Lakers but I found being a mad scientist is something you can do until that last day.
Feel neglected? Well, you should. Yes. I would have posted absolutely A-A-a-g-e-s ago but what with getting tangled up in an elliptical orbit *shoot Mike ...
a pained look* (I see you're also revolting, Mike... you know...
...on the double posting rule) :)
...and trying to track those little blue balls here :) which I liked a lot.... I decided to ignore everything else.

Indeed it is, MAGIC... and in fact could very well be the reason it is
:)
Nice sign Mike - how many do you think could be popped in a handbag? It just strikes me it would be good to have a few you could just ... silently install ... as a tension breaker if you like :)

Hi Mikeey - Oh. let me try that again - hi Mikey! :) Hi David :) *wave at lurking einsteinians* :)
Speaking of clues... we're overdue some. I will rectify that in a bit :)
Please wait here. Further instructions could pile up at any time. Thank you.
Oh yes, absolutely. Next year we are setting a new world land speed record as well. This is the decade of the Brits without any shadow of a doubt*

Well we always were clueless *blinks at assembled throng* so no change there then :-))
And in any case getting an MSc means you joined the Mad Scientists Club, that is what it stands for. A PhD means you wrote a Phenominal Dissertation, not that you are really any cleverer. Now if you achieve a DMS, gosh you are a Distinguished Master of the Subterfuge. It also gets you free entry into the Henley Regatta without queueing on Thursday afternoons, and a complimentary Pimms.
*never mind those footbally thingys they are not important in the real scheme of things.
Waiting for Godot & salvation :-)
Why do doctors have to practice?
You'd think they'd have got it right by now

Since you are exporting everything maybe you could then import a bunch of the refugees to make up for all the stuff you are losing? I think maybe 2 or 3 million should do it, for now. Although they could say the same thing they said to Iceland "too cold", except in your case "too rainy".
Hi anniet, and everyone else too, I hope everyone is doing as well as can be expected for the end of September. Christmas is LESS than 90 days away, so get your shopping down early!!
Magic it was being a 'pack mule' at work that wore my body out, I even have the picture to prove it, as I was on the cover of an International magazine back in my younger days!!

We only lost a football game which was of no importance, and apparently we are having 20,000 of those you mention. I could say we have lost our marbles, but at the last check we still have them!!

This is becoming more
This is becoming more commonplace and I have to say that I agree with it. I gave up smoking 8 years ago and it was the best thing I ever did :-)
