Yes the hummers are still here but the Rufous type left for Mexico in July so now it is the Anna's that stay all Winter and most of them are still north in Canada until next month but some of them never left so I have feeders out for all of them and also the seed eating birds and the deer stop by to eat some grass and weeds.
The closer view in that video isn't as clear as it looks since my camera tends to always do things like that and all of the area is a white smoke fog about 1/4 mile away and closer it is just smoke that makes it all a haze and doesn't smell good either so I wear a mask for about 60 seconds when I go out and feed the little birds the sunflower seeds.
They say rain next thursday but I will believe it when it happens......I guess I am saving money since we just sit here in the house every day since March....and Ben Franklin is my friend (and I check the price on silver every day just in case it goes high enough for me to sell)
I even got so bored today that I loaded 94 Einstein GPU's on this laptop and it reminded me why I stopped doing that last year.
Ok crunchers hope all is well where you are.
I'm you and the hummers are doing good!!
Everything is good here too all the storms are headed towards the Gulf instead of up the East Coast, I do get the back end of the storms but that's just much needed rain. It's actually supposed to cool off this week into the upper 70's/low 80's during the days and into the high 60's at night, my electric bill will LOVE that!!
It is still smokey here but getting a little better and the temp has been 70 or less during the day and its suppose to rain today and maybe tomorrow so that will help even just to water all my trees and plants.
The big Sequoias need rain.
Tonight the deer were sneaking in to eat grass and set off the lights down by the garage but they aren't bright enough but I could tell they were adults.
I see we have more Anna H-birds showing up so I refilled one of the feeders with fresh food and might do another on today......right now its just 3 feeders but when they all return for the Winter it usually takes 5.
I just noticed my GeForce 660Ti SC has been running non-stop here for 5 years and that is 2 years past the warranty ....I decided to run some on this laptop hoping to make it to 500 million by January 18th
My power bill always drops if I don't have all 50 cores running at Cern 24/7 so right now I only have 24 cores running and at times run 11 others especially if it is just Sixtracks since those don't eat all of my monthly isp in 6 hours like the VB tasks do.
OK 1am and I have to get up at 7am just to fire up some VB's

Have a fine weekend.
Yes the Six Tracks are much quicker to run, I grabbed a bunch when they released them last month. I'm also running the LHCDev tasks right now and the Theory Simulation tasks are only about 2 1/2 hours long, some take a bit longer but most are pretty close to that. They are VB tasks too.
You have a great weekend too, I hope the fires stay FAR FAR AWAY from you!!!
Still have evacuation warnings in effect. Unfortunately the fire has burned the entire width of the mountain range and has come out on the other side and is consuming homes. 91,000+ acres.

So is it coming your way? Is it 'far' away or close enough for you to be packing or kinda inbetween?
A couple of my cousins live in California too and a couple in Oregon as well and all say the fire is 'far' away from them. 'Far' as in at least 40+ miles, they can all smell the smoke of course but no 'glow in the sky' yet.

STAY SAFE!!!
It already came my way and it could again. Dozer line, night flying helicopters and the wind going down have it abated in my direction right now. If the wind blows towards me, I'll expect being told to "run for your life." It is still hot inside the burn scar and can rekindle.
I'm on the south side of the mountain range. It started in the middle. The active front is now on the north side and the wind was blowing from the south at 45mph last night. They are working with everything they have to keep it out of communities.
In the middle on the west flank of the fire sits Mt. Wilson. Everyone here knows the observatory. Much more there than the 100" scope now. Might be $1B in science gear. That's the east top of the hill. The west top of the hill is a massive communications platform. Dozens of broadcast radio and television stations, public safety communications sites - police, fire, and microwave links for telephone companies and the seismic network. It includes the radio communication sites being used to fight the fire. Might be $1B in communication gear. The mountain is pink now from fire retardant and I heard they put 1 million gallons of water on top to fight any fire that made it through. They will not let it burn.
WOW very scary stuff!!! You stay safe and leave if you have to as it says 'stuff' can be replaced but not people or pets.
Had a rekindle near me. They jumped on it and put it down. However 5 miles north deep in the mountains the rekindle wasn't so small. More very large air tanker assault. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D-pC7XYHV7s

FIVE MILES AWAY!!! I think I might be gone already to someplace safer. Now earthquakes don't bother me as I lived in Alaska and they were very common, unless of course I lived on and very near the fault line then I'd be a bit worried about what might land on me.
Five miles that's fine with a light wind blowing away. Since I wrote that I have heard it was a firing out operation. It is on the other side of the ridge line, the one with the pink mountain top. The firing out was to make sure it stays pink. As far as I know no people have been seriously hurt, however homes have been lost.
Oh, if you are want to attempt to guess an early win, go ahead. You will have to guess what the trigger is. Hint, even I don't know when the trigger will happen.

Things can be replaced, bodies, no.
