got home from Orlando on Monday. House ok. wish I could say same for others. Power restored at 0300 last night. back to crunching. Got very lucky on this one.

For reasons other than weather, I am still some 5 days away from returning to home and family. It cannot come soon enough. Crunching will follow in third. ;-)

Wishing safe trips home or away to all those finding themselves travelling. My daughter will be returning to Spain from China in the next few days. It's still not home home obviously, but it's a lot nearer to it :)

anniet, thanks. It could have been a great deal worse. Just want to get through this hurricane season. There are two more at present off the coast of Africa starting their trek. One is predicted to die a slow death in the Atlantic after turning north but the other "might" follow Irmas's path but it is a bit too early for an accurate path.
What is interesting is that many of the trees appear to be water deprived after Irma passed through. It is as though the high winds caused severe dehydration. This is not something I had noticed in previous storms of this intensity.

9 inches of rain today on the coast near melbourne, florida. Still raining. 29 miles to the west is orlando. Their rainfall total for this day: 1/2 inch. Go figure. They have requested that we curtail laundry, and "other" bathroom functions less we risk the sewers backing up. We count on lift stations the keep the sewerage moving because it is so flat here. Loss of power with all of this rain could make things quite interesting. It has been unusual weather this year and they are predicting a warmer then usual winter. I am so looking forward to having the A/C cycle off but with this winter's prediction who knows.
