It would be a good idea to award a Certificate of Computation to Einstein project participants, such as the Certificates which are granted by SETI, QMC, and Spinhenge for example. I have noticed that people who view such granted cerificates are eager to participate in BOINC projects, especially the younger generation. David Anderson, Director of SETI@home and his team at Berkeley SSL had a pretty good idea in 1999 by granting Certificates to SETI@home participants. It is one of the reasons why SETI has become so popular worldwide.

I quite agree with you on this point. When running Seti@Home I have been more than proud to print out and frame the certificate in order to let people see that my PC is doing something.

I also think a certificate of

I also think a certificate of computation would be very nice to have. I assume all people from the project are very busy doing other important stuff, so, I guess, if someone can design such a certificate no-one from the project will object putting it on the web-page. Unfortunately, I do not have the skills.

Why don't we organize a contest for the best design? :)

Well, it looks like everyone

Well, it looks like everyone is in agreement here concerning the Grant of a Certificate of Computation. So, what I should do is design a Certificate and
Submit it to the Einstein Project Website co-ordinators.

I'll see what I can do regarding the above mentioned.

Thanks very much for

Thanks very much for undertaking this! It would be very, very nice to a good looking certificate and I think everyone will appreciate it!

As far as I can see, the seti certificates with the photos are also designed by volunteers in the project. I guess all we need is a nice font with a picture representing somehow gravitational waves overlaid on, say, the LIGO facility or maybe something else. I am not skilled at Photoshop, I would have prepared some examples myself.

Well everyone, as the

Well everyone, as the response towards a Certificate of Computation for Einstein Participants has been so positive, I have submitted a Certificate of Computation design to Kendra Rand of Einstein APS.ORG. Kendra will pass the Certificate design over to Bruce Allen for review.

I will post any news that I receive regarding this subject on the message boards as soon as I hear from Bruce Allen.

Thanks for your efforts, John! I hope to see very soon the certificate approved and ready on the front page.

Yes, many, many years ago Laughing.

Go to your account tab and under the "MY STATS" heading on the central block, you will see a 'certificates' link.  If you click that you will see your up-to-date computational certificate.

Cheers,
Gary.

There are currently no pictures in the certificate which needs some fixing. This is already on our Todo list.
