I apologise. That 'quote'

I apologise. That 'quote' from Pepys was a fake, I've been had by no less a person than one of the Thailand cave rescuers. I'll ponder my revenge.

Oh

*slowly sweep lashes into a pile*

Good one.

Yes.

I like it.

;)))

Anniet I hope your pantry isn't as bare as you make it sound like it could be!!

Actually, Mikey, it really was :/ A set of circumstances completely out of my control, happened. Then, a fateful decision did which had seemed such a good idea too being that it was mine and everything...

:|

But the cupboards hadn't been left entirely bare. There was half a jar of gherkins.

How they got in there I have no idea. How they got to be half of one is even more puzzling, but I won't dwell on that too much... no . . . . .

Anyway :) And a small tin of truly the worst gift anyone has ever given us, individually or as a family :[ Sixteen years it's been in there. No one I've ever offered it to, wants it, and throwing it away makes it worse than the worse it already is.

Supplies are gradually appearing here and there now, which is good :) Lots of stuff is still missing though.

edit: I've now established that I was banging on about that stray cat. Yes :) Well she's still with us, and has given all mine a rather splendid eye infection. One from which she has recovered, but they haven't yet.

It's of the kind that leaves their nictitating membranes mimicking phases of the moon. You know... instead of tidying itself away while their eyes are open.

y-e-e-e-e-e-s...

Please wait here. Further instructions could pile up at any time. Thank you.

I love pickles and eat one every day, it helps keep the lower leg cramps away, but I'm not sure I would eat one from a jar that's been sitting there open for 16 years!! I keep my pickles in the fridge as I like cold pickles. I buy whole ones and then slice them into spears to eat them. If they are small I will eat 2 pickles. Since I stared doing  that over 15 years ago the leg cramps have not  come back. And for those wondering I also get almost a gallon of liquids in me every day as well.

As for your cats I hope they get better soon.

And I'm glad your pantry is filling up again, we all need choices so life doesn't get boring.

That's an interesting quotation.

DownUnda we have discovered a heretofore untapped national stockpile of stupidity.

We here in the US have also discovered a similar untapped national stockpile of stupidity.  It is said that you "can't fix stupid" but behavior like this might just prove that you can.  Survival of this fittest - they won't make the cut.

Is it stupidity, or the education system, which boasts "we produce well rounded graduates" unfortunately one tiny disturbance and you have absolutely no control over round objects, they race to the bottom every time.

I don't know about you folks,

I don't know about you folks, but this shelter-in-place-social-distancing-self-isolation thing has me on edge. My usual routine was to spend 2-3 hr each morning at the gym working out and chatting with friends; then the rest of the day usually spent at home, maybe run some errands around town. Now that that routine is out the window, my entire life thrown out of whack. My wife was usually out and about with her friends or at her gym most days, but now she's at home nearly all the time. I'm actually watching less Netflix, et al., which I haven't quite figured out yet. Another month, probably two (3? 4?) of this and, well... Gahh! These are interesting times for sure.

Ideas are not fixed, nor should they be; we live in model-dependent reality.

A Dr on tv the other day said 'shelter in place' does not mean stay home he saids it means 'isolate yourself from others'. He said the difference is your patio or deck is still okay to use, just not with neighbors, you can take a walk in your neighborhood just not with someone else closer than 6 feet away. You can still go to the grocery store but do what Aldi does and only send one person not both you and your wife go, Aldi is only allowing one person per grocery cart/trolley.  Yes most of us will stay home as we can't always trust others to follow the rules but if you need to go out do so intelligently not willy nilly.

My area does not have a 'shelter in place' order and a year ago the calendar didn't go far enough to allow a 1 year followup on my skin cancer surgery so I called this past Monday to make it and got seen yesterday!! They are still seeing pt's,  even brand new ones, you just must be screened first at the front door which includes having your temp taken. I passed and went right in, all the pt's were sitting at least 6 feet apart and were behaving themselves, it's a Dr's Office so it's kinda what people do anyway. When it ws my turn they checked all my areas, said my old area was doing great, froze a couple spots to keep them from becoming a problem later on, took a small 'punch biopsy' of a possible new spot near the old one and told  me to wear my hat more often!! I was surprised and happy I got it  all done during this time of closures!! We are part of the most things closed and restaraunts doing carry-out only stuff, they also banned all public parking near the beach and kicked all the less than 90 day renters out of the beach homes effectively closing  the beachs. We are a small beach anyway but during the season it can get crowded so it's a good thing, but it means we need someone to drop us off and pick us up if we want to go to the beachand with this social distancing thing most people aren't riding with others outside their own family.

I quite agree, but  what I have found is that the on/off switch on the TV is most helpful.  To not watch/hear the never ending drone until the last couple of hours in a given day really does help one relax and improve one's disposition.  Or at least it does for me.

I have just been listening to

I have just been listening to a radio program telling farmers how to behave at cattle auctions. Apparently the two metre rule is interpreted as the length of a cow. So now we know.

Well I suppose that is fine

Well I suppose that is fine for the cattle yards, but what to do when there are no cows about ? ;-)

Cheers, Mike.

I have made this letter longer than usual because I lack the time to make it shorter ...

My neighbors walk the neighborhood ALOT and I told them 'a double arms length away from each other', now you can hear them talking from your porch as they walk in  the street, some are in much better shape than others as they don't have to stop to breathe as they talk. The average person is 5 to 6 feet tall and when we stick out our arms that's roughly equivalent to our height, boxers usually have longer arms so they can hit you without being hit, so if I extend my arm and you extend your arm, sideways of course, to just touch our fingers together we are roughly 6 feet apart. Of course two 3 feet tall people  would be closer than two 7 feet tall people, but  it roughly works for most people.
