I originally read that CBS

I originally read that CBS will ONLY air the Pilot on regular TV; THEN, you MUST sign up for CBS All Access, (streaming services), to see the rest of the series.  If this is still the plan, I have NO intention of watching.  I'm NOT paying $7.99 a month to watch one show.

My understanding of "CBS All

My understanding of "CBS All Access" is that it is a monthly service/charge and that entitles one to view all their shows.  The quality of "Discovery"  based upon the trailer seems quite high so it would be difficult to justify as a free show on their regular network.  A show with quality production standards needs to be supported by those willing to watch.  This concept seems lost on most people today - you get what you pay for.  There appears to be two options:  pay with limited commercials or pay commercial free.  A third option is what you stated - don't pay/watch at all.

"CBS All Commercials Access

"CBS All Commercials Access all the time" costs you hard cash, CBS on cable costs you hard cash, CBS on satellite costs you hard cash.  Only CBS OTA doesn't cost you hard cash.

What TV exec's don't get is if you want to show 500,000 channels you can only expect 10 viewers per channel.  Not a sustainable business model, but they keep charging ahead with it anyway.

I'm with Scott. I'm not

I'm with Scott. I'm not paying to watch it. However, I will check to see if I get it with the U-Verse service.

I don't think we do, David.  (U-300 Package here with 45 Mb Internet.)  While some things can be had on U-Verse through their "On Demand", I don't think the new Star Trek will be one of them.  If I'm wrong, and we do get it, I'll be pleasantly surprised.

Let me know what you find out.

Yes, there is much more than just Discovery on CBS All Access; BUT, as I get everything I want from CBS on broadcast/U-Verse bundled local channels, I stand with what I said; I won't pay $7.99 a month for ONE show...  I don't need the spinoff to The Good Wife, and I don't know what other "original" shows are being created for CBS All Access; the only show that would interest me on "All Access" would be Discovery.  I'm just NOT willing to pay $7.99/month for that one show...  No matter how much has been put into it.  I'll wait for the DVD/Blu-Ray Sets that WILL come out, and buy those.  If I can save the money to do so.  Right now, car maintenance, medicines for various conditions, and Medical - Dental - Vision - Car Insurances, and life expenses are more important.  I'm on a VERY fixed and tight budget being on SSDI.  Half my income goes to Health Insurances, and the rest goes to car insurance, car expenses, and life expenses.  I can't even afford a place of my own, because of tight budget constraints; I have to live with my elderly parents.  $7.99/Month can go to car fuel expenses.
