Welcome to the next installment of The Last Optimist To Post Wins!

Simple rules:
- The winner of the last thread can't win this thread.
- Post in this thread, anything with legible words (ie one word posts don't count, same for just an emoji)
- Stay within the message board rules
- Empty posts are invalid towards winning
- You must wait for someone else to post before you can post again, any and all multiple posts are invalid towards winning
- Double posters must buy a round in the Seti Bar, except the only poster who can't win
- Have FUN -- strict requirement Innocent

Rules Subject to change at moderators discretion without notice. (that should go without saying)

The winner will be the last person that posted, when I have time to check the thread, after one of these events:
- A specific date and/or time occurs
- A specific number of posts have been made
- I get tired of ya'll nagging me who is the winner :)
- An event I have chosen occurs (doesn't occur)

Sorry there are no physical prizes, only the satisfaction you played and won. :)

(and good conversation)

TLPTPW? Is that the last

TLPTPW? Is that the last oldie to post wins?

If so, what would the minimum age to win be?

Never mind, I should learn to read. The last optimist.

Hmm, how to get a link in here on a mobile?

Your link appears to be formed correctly, but apparently the board software doesn't like parens ().

[edit]

Your link is for mobile devices, here is the one for PCs: dinghy

The board software doesn't like it either though.

*consider trying to tinker with link*

*lose all optimism of doing so with any success*

As there is still 4 minutes of morning here, good afternoon everyone. London is a bit on the sad side today, but it's lovely to be here *indicate board*

:)

Please wait here. Further instructions could pile up at any time. Thank you.

I sure am glad I didn't have to go to one of those highrise fires like that when I was working, we had a few smaller ones and they are nothing but WORK!! Hauling stuff up and down the steps all night long, air bottles the f/f wear only last abut 30 minutes if you are just taking it easy, working hard you can suck one down in about 10 to 15 minutes! That means get your stuff on go up a few flights of stairs and come back down again because you are out of air!! As the fire moves upward, and it's safe, you can stage supplies so people don't have to go all the way back out again, but even that is no fun as where do you put the supplies and people in small hallways that have already burned? Everything is filthy dirty and it becomes a chore to try and keep your air mask clean when there is nothing to clean them with!

Firefighters use positive pressure air masks now, have for years, so the air is always flowing so any leaks don't bring the bad stuff into the lungs anymore. Anyone that uses a cpap knows the idea, the key difference being the f/f one never changes pressure it's constant. This is another reason the air bottle run out of air so fast, some people breathe heavier and faster than others too so some people will run out of air much sooner than others. Add in small people and larger people and there can be drastic differences in how long an air bottle lasts. F/F always go in in at least pairs, that way if one gets in trouble someone else knows it.

Optimist ? Isn't that someone

Optimist ? Isn't that someone who helps with reading glasses ? Now, first image hit for Google 'optimist' :

....... a type of sailing dinghy and you can race them. As you can see it's an appropriate name. That sailor is well dressed for getting wet. I think that's an angle too far ......

Cheers, Mike.

That looks like a Mirror*

That looks like a Mirror* Dinghy popular in the mid 70's as a DIY kit boat and still a racing class today.

*Sponsored by Daily Mirror, UK tabloid.

Waiting for Godot & salvation :-)

That was bigger :

My Dad built one of those in the lounge room. The bow was a blunt pentagonal shield as there were four hull pieces, there were four buoyancy tanks, a taller mast and longer boom, plus you could run a spinnaker ! There was always that tension between 'going around' vs. 'going over' :-)

Cheers, Mike.
