Nvidia is reported to be dropping some 3030Ti and 3070Ti gpu's with mining disabled on them this Fall, if so the rest could be getting some soon. China is also cracking down on mining companies, something about taxes etc, and that too should help with the supply of gpu's.

Maybe, but perhaps the extreme rise has crested. I've been sitting on three RX 5700 cards I took out of service when I installed a 6800 and a 6800 XT earlier this year. Until now waiting seemed clever, as the occasional times I looked at eBay for pricing and interest level seemed to show a continuing rise.
But now I've actually prepared the auction for the first of the three, and I paid a little more attention. Several auctions which just timed out recently or are about to time out seem to have stopped attracting bids days ago (roughly May 19). While two weeks ago I think I could have pretty confidently expected $1000, with some hope for $1350, now it looks like I may be lucky to get much over $500. Not that I deserve pity, the card cost me $350 and got thirteen months of use.
Part of what makes a bubble a bubble in retrospect is sudden price collapse at the end. I don't know when it will happen, but I am confident the recent GPU price extreme madness will end, well before the "foreseeable future" boundary.

Somehow I got $940 for the first RX 5700 (not XT) I sold yesterday. It is puzzling, because the market level for eBay auctions of the 5700 XT cards was running right around $950 at the time. And, yes, that was clearly several hundred dollars below just a few weeks earlier.
The funny thing is, that if the Chinese government chases some of the big mining operations consuming huge amounts of power in out-of-the-way places out of the game, that action may actually raise the return on resources employed elsewhere in the world. Which direction all that would push GPU price and availability you and I see is not obvious to me.
My second used RX 5700 card sold for $710. That seems to be about the going price for the RX 5700 cards on eBay auctions at the moment. In mid-May they were going for a bit over $1,000.
I don't know whether the fever has tapered down a little, or perhaps some customers have raised their relative preference for some other cards, or just random noise in the market.
I just bought two 1660Ti gpu's for $81US each thru FaceBooks Marketplace, I would have bought 20 of them if I'd had the money on hand!! Looking around I found a 1650 selling for #200US. The ones I bought are brand new and come with a warranty. I DID use PayPal so have some warranty thru them as well

Ideas are not fixed, nor should they be; we live in model-dependent reality.

I think supply & demand will rule in the end. It's the old saying in a gold rush, sell spades. :-)
Elon is going to have to take profit eventually and before Bitcoin reaches it's true value. Once he starts to sell ....
But what exactly would NVIDIA disable wrt mining ? Does this affect other computation targets ? A problem if so for EAH ?
Cheers, Mike.
I have made this letter longer than usual because I lack the time to make it shorter ...
