I like the old trains and how

I like the old trains and how we have them still around here where I am (my Dad had a train job as a youngster in the early 1950's)

Today the wife tried to talk me into taking one to Idaho where the old boy lives because I said I didn't want to drive there since it would be about 7 hours if I didn't stop.

I would have to hire a couple of you to watch my place before I leave though

RE: My buddy had the same

Quote:

My buddy had the same problem, he and his wife made GOOD money, in the mid 6 figures combined salary, he ended up working with the state of Virginia, where I live and he used to live, funding a pull over viewing area along the Blue Ridge Parkway. There will be a plaque with his and his wifes name saying something like 'this scenic viewing area is maintained by X and Y'. It was either that or pay for a race horse, they LOVED betting on the ponies, a scenic pull over spot was chosen because they LOVED pulling over and just looking as they drove to and from the race tracks.

Some bird or pet sanctuary would LOVE your money too, when you no longer need it. You could even do a hummingbird 'exhibit' for a very long time into the future with a nice plaque saying it came about because of you.

I would like to be able to talk the State into making my place into a National Park where it would only allow tours........of course I would have to teach them how things work here too.

I got a pair of sunglasses today in the mail that have a video camera (you can't even tell it has a camera) so I tried it outside today while I was walking around the yard feeding the birds and the sort of pet *secret squirrel* and a wild rabbit we give carrots to.

And the deer mom and her baby was here.

And since we haven't got any rain all month I had a sprinkler out front and shot some video of the robins and hummingbirds taking a shower and they love doing that.

I will make a youtube video when I get the chance.

(btw I have no problem protecting my kingdom from crooks since the Desert Eagle would make them wet their pants and I also have my pistol grip 12 gauge mole blaster and I have my grandfathers 1911 Colt pistol revolver that is fast and light)

I tend to stay up until 4am so crooks would be very surprised (of course I am an electronics geek so I have security monitors around the place too)

Over the years I have mixed by hand about 5 tons of concrete to make stuff so the next owner is going to be stuck with my hand prints too

Just do it before you die so they have time to work out the details

just don't forget to record what they see so if you don't make it someone can figure things out.

Do you have Michael Jordan size hands? If so people can be putting their hands in your prints forever.

RE: So the latest version

Quote:

So the latest version of the Trainz simulator features my home town Healesville as of ~ 1920 which I reckon is cool ! So I'm gonna buy the Collectors Edition and go for a spin.

In reality the right-of-way is still there and is being restored as we speak. The track, engines, the rolling stock, the tunnel, buildings, bridges are all under renewal. Style-wise I think they're going for the immediate post WWII look :

Cheers, Mike.

That's pretty cool!

Well I actually emailed the State about that but not much from them........I think it would be easier if I had more than 5 acres.......I wanted the 10 acres next to me but somebody else got it for one of those fake "organic" garden places (looks like a hippy farm)

Yeah I played basketball until I was 42 and could palm a basketball when I was in 8th grade so I make nice hand prints.......and other things I put in the concrete projects here.

Last year I made a 30ft X 5ft sidewalk along the back of the house to mainly make it so I never had to mow or pull weeds there again.

Used marble tiles, quartzite stones and blue flagstones and some other colored smaller stones to give it some style.

And back in the summer of 2009 I made this concrete flower box out of 110 bags of concrete with the marble tiles on the end that I had in my stash and finished in on 4th of July (you can see the end of that sidewalk I made last summer in the pic too)

Call the State back, persistence pays off, the old squeaky wheel thing and all.

I like the sidewalk and flower box, I see it even has a drain pipe in it!

Mikey you have the eyes of an eagle....yeah that is in case it rains or snows too much and it works perfect.

I made a concrete table out by the pond and put a drain on the bottom of that too since it has a place for the umbrella in the center that would fill up with water and then freeze if I didn't.

I have always avoided both MS

I have always avoided both MS Train Sim and Trainz because I don't want to get addicted to them. However, I noticed recently that the museum has Trainz, so maybe I'll pick it up with my member discount. I have an idea about creating the museum's railroad in it and setting it up as a demo for visitors. Hmmmmm...

You can indeed do that. For me that is the addictive part, making your own layouts. Trainz especially has tons of downloadable content, for a small fee they can put you on a faster server if that matters. They also have scenarios with some of the West Australian ore trains which I like too. But it's all virtual goodness .... certainly more psychologically healthy than Grand Sociopath XII etc.

Cheers, Mike.
